We recognize there are many important problems that need to be addressed on a global scale from global warming and the destruction of forests to pollution caused by industrial waste. We are taking small steps in our daily office routines and practices to reduce our environmental footprint as an organization.

Mizuho Securities is a participant in the "Team Minus 6 Percent" campaign introduced by Japan's Ministry of the Environment (MOE). As a participant, Mizuho Securities has agreed to reduce CO2 emissions by setting air conditioners in its offices at 28 degrees Celsius during June to September. To compensate for the higher temperature, employees are encouraged to wear lighter clothing, including the no-tie, no-jacket business-wear fashions called "Cool Biz," in the summer months.

Mizuho Securities uses recycled paper for documents sent to clients and shareholders. We also use recycled paper, plant-derived soy inks, and waterless printing to produce the calendars we distribute to clients and other parties.
The furnishing and fixtures we use in our offices are also products that take the natural environment into account.
