Mizuho Securities and its employees and their families, together with its business partners and clients, take part in a broad array of activities that give back to society in some way. Financial Industry in Tokyo (FIT), which is an industry-wide group providing support to charity organizations, holds charity Run.
Charities receiving donations are selected principally from among those that conduct activities that are an integral part of local community activities, but do not have sufficient funds for their activities because they are not well known or for other reasons.

Mizuho Securities became the first Japanese financial institution to participate in this event in May 2007. Up to that time, the FIT for Charity Run was a community service activity held by foreign financial institutions, investment banks, accounting firms, and other companies. Since Mizuho Securities began to participate in this event, it has provided an opportunity open to the entire financial services industry in Japan.
In November 2009, the Mizuho Securities team, consisting of more than 200 runners, walkers, and volunteers, enjoyed the run, which followed a course through rows of gingko trees turned yellow by the autumn weather.
The natural beauty of Mt. Fuji is a source of pride for the Japanese people. In cooperation with the Fujisan Club, a non-profit organization that organizes cleanups to collect illegally dumped garbage on and around the mountain, our employees and their families work together in a cleanup activity to help restore Mt. Fuji's natural splendor and preserve the wonder it inspires for future generations and thereby give back to society.

This cleanup activity is adopted as a freshman's CSR training program,in order to keep them in mind the importance of contribution to general interest causes and good spirit as a corporate citizen.
As part its operations, Mizuho Securities holds shares in its proprietary account, and, as a result, it receives complimentary items that some companies send to their shareholders.
The food products that we receive are donated to Second Harvest Japan, a non-profit organization that distributes these food products to various facilities that take care of people in need.

The complimentary gift certificates, coupons, and plane tickets we receive are donated to Family House, a non-profit organization that was set up to ease the mental and economic strain on families that have sick children receiving treatment by offering them accommodations at one of several sites in large cities close to hospitals.
We work to contribute to promoting local communities by participating in community festivals and making donations to relief efforts whenever disasters occur.
